ABOUT WRITE TO RISE
Áine has been hosting WRITE TO RISE Decolonising Workshops spirals for over 10 years on many beautiful lands with diverse communities of people. These workshops meet the yearning in us all to express, create and share our stories. We are at a time in our human experience across the world, across communities, across lived experiences, where rumblings are happening, seeds are growing, truths being shared and pens (swords) being directed towards the growth of our collective humanity.It sometimes takes a nudge to step in to claim some space, take the pen, and write what is coming forth, especially in these times as it all feels so big. In recent workshop on Birpai country, the gratitude was there for an opening of a door, a way in, which is what the space of this workshop provides. None of us have the answers in creativity: how could we? It’s mystical and magical dance to dance with no tangible precise way to pin it down, but if you are curious, this is a doorway to walk through.BE in circle. OPEN a doorway. NUDGE towards what you yearn for. Áine has her deep cultural ways of being in community and sharing the seeds for Community who also wanting to WRITE TO RISE.

These are spirals are designed to meet the needs of the time and are never straight lines: places where we meet the yearning in all of us to express, create, and share our stories.We are at a time, across the world, across communities, across lived experience, where rumblings are happening. From songwriting to poetry and beyond, writing is a powerful way to speak to the hard truths of ancestral pasts and the beauty and hope in the futures. Share some of Áine's processes in how she unveils some of these hidden conversations and rises strong in hope.
No matter what level of writer, by the end of the workshop she will empower you to write something that needs to come out. Something that is stuck in your own craw about being a human in the current state of our world.

A Brigid’s Day special edition of WRITE TO RISE has been on the cards for years and finally the schedule has allowed us to be in circle on the Imbolc/Lughnasa festivals and basque in the Goddess Brigid and her holding of poetry, wisdom and so much more.
